Stealthily and as time went by, Pablo De Mattei (Paul) grew up in the scene of Buenos Aires following his influences in terms of Jazz and Soul to access, from there, his special interest in electronic music. His devotion for new sounds relates him to House since 1988, when he made it to his first residency at one of them pubs which filled the Bollini alley. Since then, he began transiting the local circuit that during the following five years would lead him to hobnob with the top DJs of the moment.
In 1999 Paul arrived at the decks of the now disappeared underground club Morocco and, simultaneously, he began working at the high-quality night Clubland (Saturdays@Pacha Buenos Aires). On a Deep, Progressive-House key, he there shared the booth with heralds of the international outlook of the size of Hernan Cattaneo,John Creamer , Layo Bushwacka!, Nick Warren, Dave Seaman, John Graham, Luke Fair and Sander Kleinenberg among others. Furthermore, the acceptance and flair of his sets -which transport the dance-floor through dark and intense paths- led him to be a feature in all the editions of the Creamfields BA festival.
On the alert for the new moves of his mentors (the acclaimed John Digweed and Hernan Cattaneo) on a more approximate level- Paul began exploring the production field in the beginning of 2003. Working alongside the musician - producer Mercurio, he made his own tracks and a bootleg of the song Ultraviolet by U2 which went around the world in the trays of the busiest DJs. In fact, he was part, with Buey and Federico Stuart, of the group BPS. Many remixes came out of this creative society which reached the audience through Metrodance, the local electronic music number one shot. Moreover, the version of Clocks by Coldplay arose the interest of Paul Oakenfold in the trio.
Currently, Paul combines his newly found production career with his Djing one. (works with argentinean dj and producer Ricky Ryan aka Can Costa. Recently they remixed American artist Stroud for Mining Vinyl Recordings USA. This tune called “Chobru” has been charted in BALANCE Record Pool by Chris Fortier, and has also been included in Jondi and Spesh’s and Chris Micali’s charts. Also supported by Josh Wink, producer Greg Benz, fine reviewer dj Chloe @ Sound Bytes :: www.progressive-sounds.com:: and mixed several times by Hernan Cattaneo... ) Also now he is working with Stuart , having remixed everything from 16B´s “Esacape” to U2´s “Vertigo”;and his latest productions ( Saturn 12- Paul & Stuart) was played by John Digweed in his weekly radio show called Transition. Paul is a member of the staff of Metrodance 95.1 FM.( www.metro951.com) At that station he musicalises the show Buenos Aires PM (on week days 6pm to 8pm) and has his own Late Night section (Tuesdays from 1 a.m. to 3 a.m.).
