Nicolas Coronel was born on the 17th of March, 1980, in Mar del Plata,
Buenos Aires, Argentina. From as young as he can remember he has had a love for music. The youngest
child in his family, he was influenced heavily by the sounds of the 80s that
his older sisters were listening to in those days. He always had a passion
for clubs and dance music. He first went to a club at age 11 and was
instantly attracted to the DJ booth and equipement.
Through the 90s he became continuously more attracted to the world of clubs
and dance music, paying attention to national and international Djs and
learning their styles.
In 1994 he because to buy his first equipment, beginning his career as a DJ,
playing parties at his school, hotels, private parties, etc.
His record bag began to greow with music from artists like David Morales,
Keith Litman, Paul Oakenfold, Faithless, Daft Punk, etc.
In 1997 Nicolas began work in various bars in a district of his city well
known for its nightlife. He gained confidence behind the tables thanks to
Roberto Ceratti, resident DJ for El Divino Dance Club and most important DJ
in the city at that time, who was his teacher in the technique of mixing
vinyl. His style was beginning to take shape, based in house music and the
trance tunes that were growing in force at that time. He continued going to
Complejo Sobremonte, his favorite club and one of the best in the country,
with the best parties and the best Djs to this day.
As the 90's came to a close and 2000 arrived, Nicolas had gained experience
from playing in many divers events, including other clubs from the Mar del
Plata.
As 2000 came to a close, Nicolas was able to listen and define his style and
musical taste more and more, thanks to hearing music at some of the best
parties like Cream and Ministry. He began listening to the new sounds of
progressive house that were being played by Hernan Cattaneo, who was a
resident DJ at Divino Dance Club in the summers.
At Sobremonte, he was able to listen to and get to know the sounds of DJs like Sasha, John Digweed, Sander Kleinenberg, Lee Burridge, Dave Seaman, etc., and in the Divino Dance Club DJs like Deep Dish, Steve Lawler, David Morales, Peace Division, George Morel, Satoshi Tomiie, John Pleased, amongst others, all definitively marked by the sounds of house and progressive house.
In those years he continued learning and gaining experience playing in many
clubs, occasionally playing in Velvet, the chill and deep house portion of
Sobremonte, and in the year 2002 he was able to play nights in the Divino
and Sobremonte as a guest DJ.
By the summer of 2003, he was offered a position as resident DJ in one of
the city's two most important clubs, El Divino Beach. In the same year he
also received a Friday night residency in the Velvet Dance Session, with
additional dates in Sobremonte.
In 2004 the owner of the club offered him residency in the Divino Dance
club, playing with the best Djs in the national electronic music scene.
Little by little he was beginning to gain an interest in production.
Now, in 2006, he's one of the resident Djs of Complejo Sobremonte and Divino
Beach. Nicolas has played in the Mar del Plata Dance Parade Festival, the most
important event on Argentina's Atlantic coast, since 2002, in the Ibiza
summer dance tour in 2003, and in the summer of 2005 he was in the main stage lineup
for Argentina's first ever Mixtronica Marlboro, only the third in the world.
He has shared the booth with many famous DJs in the electronic scene, names
like Martin Garcia, Gabo, Parks & Wilson, Spitfire, Cesar de Melero, DJ
Paul, Can Costa, Diego Ro-K, DJ Oliver, Blake Baxter, Romina Cohn, Hardy
Hard, Carlos Diaz, Alto Camet, Javier Zuker, Reche, German Rovira, Hugo Diaz,
Roberto Ceratti, Gabriel Voorbeytel, Canu, Aldo Haydar, Tommy Jacobs, Mina,
Adrian de Bernardi, and many others.
Though still a young producer, his works are being noticed, his tracks already having been played by Hernán Cattaneo, Jason Jollins, Kosmas Epsilon, V-Sag, Martin Garcia , Kriece, Andrew K, Dj Tarkan, Nick Warren, Steve Gerrard, Micah, Mike Hiratzka, Randall Jones, Mike Brin, Snake Sedrick, Baunder, Simuck, KVK, Deepmariano, Derek Howell, Viton, 16bit lolitas, , Blue room Project, Hiroshi Watanabe, Stereonova, Chris Micali, Eelke Kleijn, dPen, Michael Lanning, Slok, Sjunkes, Anil Chawla, Guillaume, y others.
His production partners are Mark Slee (aka Palivacinni), a 21 year old
American producer, and Juan Pablo Graziano, 33 years of age from Mar del
Plata. With each, he experiments with different types of sounds, ranging
thruogh house, deep dark progressive and progressive house. His tracks have
appeared in many charts and radio shows, including Proton, Galaxie radio
(France), Frisky (USA), Special radio (Russia), Radio Emotion (Bulgaria),
Turkey, Metrodance (Buenos Aires – Argentina) etc, like in massive events like Moonpark Buenos Aires, Perú (James Zabiela & Martín García), Pacha Buenos Aires, etc.
In December of the 2005 left to the air his set´s in radios like the X4 (Buenos Aires) and the Frisky radio, sharing line up with V-Sag, Micah and Matt Rowan.
Nicolas is an artist on the labels Acute recordings (New York), Fiberline Audio (USA), Sentient Audio Collective (USA) and also on L2Music (Germany).
After to play in the Argentine summer in the 2006 in Mar del Plata like resident in the Complejo Sobremonte, it´s prepared for his tour around Mexico.
At 26 years old and a DJ for 11, Nicolas continues to watch closely all
types of house, always exploring the world of electronic music and your scene. | |
